After more than 65 years on the corner of Frankford and Harbison avenues, the original Artur Realty building is closing, but proprietor Chris Artur will stay in business.

Artur, senior real estate specialist and son of founder Ernest Artur, announced Tuesday he will relocate the business to Bridesburg, beginning Wednesday, June 21. Artur, a Frankford native, took over the business after his father’s retirement, having served as a broker at the agency since the late 1970s.

“In an ever-evolving real estate landscape, with digital resources and search tools available at the fingertips of sellers and buyers, it became evident that it didn’t matter from where I ran Artur Realty,” he said. “If you’re not out in the field showing houses and putting up sale signs, then you’re not running a successful business — and with so much time spent out of the office daily anyway, the relocation will be a smooth and easy transition for me and my customers.”

The new Artur Realty location will be at 2646 Orthodox St., at the corner of Thompson Street, the intersection where Ernest Artur began his career in real estate working for Miller Realty in the late 1940s after he returned from World War II, graduated from Temple University and got his real estate license.

“Though Artur Realty won’t be in the exact same building where my father learned the ropes of buying and selling homes, it is still a homecoming of sorts for the business,” Chris Artur said. “I look forward to continuing to serve residents of the Northeast and expanding my roots in a new neighborhood.”
