NEW YORK – Aug. 9, 2018 – Real estate agents should avoid five mistakes on social media if they don’t want to harm their brand.
″Don’t use a personal profile for business. Followers want to know how an agent will help them as a real estate professional – not read their personal status updates or look at their family vacation photos. Instead, agents should create free professional business profiles on social media and take advantage of the extra features they offer.
- Don’t make every message sales-oriented. Instead, they should use their channels to share new blog posts and other information that their audience finds valuable.
- Never delete negative user comments. Instead, use them as opportunities to highlight responsiveness and professionalism
- Never ignore website content if you hire other people to handle it. It’s important that agents remember that typos, overly hyped real estate listings, and copying what other agencies are doing will not look good for their firm or help differentiate their brand.
- Avoid using too many or too few social media platforms. Keep in mind the unique benefits of each platform and know which ones are favored by your target audience before making a commitment.
