Back To School Clothes Shopping! – How To Save Money
Or clothing shopping in general.
Kids grow so damn fast that buying clothing for them can be so very expensive. So why go to Kohls or Macys or JC Penny’s or Sears and then pay full retail price?
You pay hundreds of dollars and have very few clothes to show for your money. And when you have more than one child the expense can be more than double.
They are just going to outgrow their clothes by the end of the year anyway.
So, if you have one near you, on the first Saturday of the month go to Goodwill on 50% off day. You can spend only $50 dollars and walk out with more than $100.00 dollars’ worth of clothes. And that’s not even retail price.
Sometimes they have other days that are 50% off. You just have to watch for the sales.
If there is not goodwill near you there are other thrift stores around that you can shop at. For instance, there may be a Salvation Army or a St. Vincent DePaul. Whatever the store may be in your area thrift shopping can save a lot of money.
Sometimes they have name brands that are nice and clean and still in great shape. This is especially good when you have 2 or more children that are in need of clothing.
The only thing I would not but from the thrift store would be all under clothes. Like socks, underwear, and bras. These are things I would get at discount stores like:
- Dollar General
- Family Dollar
just to name a few.
When it comes to the shoes it would depend upon what they look like in the thrift store. Are they still in good condition or are they beat up pretty bad? You might want to consider splurging on shoes at the discount stores for new shoes.
Walmart has nice shoes at great prices. Then there is Payless. Payless is another place that has great shoes at great prices.
The point is paying hundreds of dollars for new name brand clothes for growing children is not a very good thing. They outgrow them too fast and you will have to buy more every year. Not only this, but they are also hard on clothing. they get rips and stains all over them. This is why it is pointless to spend a lot of money on clothes for children.
